Windhaven (the name comes from the fact we are so sheltered here from the wind)
is a perfect retreat or a base for action-packed adventures.

  • 1.50hr from Dunedin.
  • 35mins from Oamaru.
  • 3.00 hrs from Christchurch.
  • 40mins to Omarama.  (World Gliding champs are held here).
  • 1hr to Twizel.
  • 1hr to Ohau Ski Field.
  • 2hrs to Mount Cook.  (See the photo we took while on a flight January 2009. It was GREAT).
  • 3hrs to Queenstown.
We are right on the doorstep of the Vanished World, a great place to explore.
You can travel to each site by car or for those more energetic, bikes.
The valley is world renowned for its fishing and boating. There is also great hunting in the valley. Guides can be arranged for both the fishing and hunting. Or you can just relax and maybe partake
in some wine tasting and sitting in the sun.
